Only a few days remain before the official launch of Battlefield 6, and it seems that both EA and DICE are determined to raise player expectations even higher.

A new promotional message from the publisher confirmed that Battlefield 6 will be capable of running at 120 frames per second on next-generation consoles when using Performance Mode.

This makes Battlefield 6 one of the few large-scale shooters to combine massive battles and full environmental destruction with cutting-edge visuals and advanced technical performance.

A Major Visual & Performance Leap for Battlefield 6 on Current-Gen Hardware

The idea of choosing between Performance Mode and Quality Mode isn’t new — it first appeared during the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X era, with titles like Rise of the Tomb Raider offering players the choice between 30 fps at 4K resolution or 60 fps at 1080p.

With the transition to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, this flexibility has become standard among most AAA games, allowing players to balance visuals and frame rate according to their preference.

Now, with the arrival of the PS5 Pro, performance standards have risen even higher thanks to Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), 120 Hz displays, and improved dynamic-resolution scaling across both visual modes. Battlefield 6 is expected to fully utilize these upgrades — a key factor behind its ability to reach more stable and responsive performance levels on consoles.

Open-beta tests already showed that Battlefield 6 reached around 110 fps on the base PS5, maintaining an average of 80–90 fps across most hardware configurations.

Although EA’s message — highlighted by Gamerant — didn’t specify whether the 120 fps performance is exclusive to the PS5 Pro, current indicators suggest that all high-end consoles may support this target in Performance Mode.

It’s worth noting, however, that to fully benefit from the feature, players will need a 120 Hz-compatible display; otherwise, the difference in frame rate won’t be noticeable.

Beyond performance, Battlefield 6 is gearing up for its official release on October 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The game has already become one of the most anticipated releases of the year — especially after its successful open beta in August, which recorded the largest player participation in the franchise’s history, surpassing even the concurrent player count of Call of Duty HQ on Steam, which combines Black Ops 6 and Warzone.
