EA and DICE are doubling down on expanding their new shooter, announcing that Battlefield 6 Is Free for one full week to coincide with the launch of Season 1.
This move comes at a time when the game is drawing strong interest and is expected to become the fastest-selling Battlefield title by the end of the year—an advantage just as the holiday season approaches.
Still, EA and DICE seem well aware of the intense competition in the market, which explains their decision to open the game to millions of players for free as a clear attempt to keep the momentum going and attract new users.
Battlefield 6 Is Free for a Full Week
The free trial reflects a long-term strategy to support the game after its strong launch. Players can jump in from November 25 to December 1, gaining access to five game modes across three core maps included in the trial.
Available maps include Siege of Cairo, Eastwood, and Blackwell Fields. Players can try some of the franchise’s most popular modes such as Conquest, Breakthrough, Sabotage, and Team Deathmatch—each offering the large-scale battles and team-focused gameplay that define the Battlefield identity.
Season 1 Content Rolls Out, but Challenges Remain
Season 1 is being released in three waves, starting with the recently launched California Resistance update. More maps, weapons, and vehicles are expected in the coming weeks, signaling DICE’s commitment to growing the experience and increasing gameplay variety.
However, the game still faces a number of criticisms from the community. Complaints have included slow progression, heavy reliance on Battle Pass purchases, and some maps feeling too small or overcrowded.
These concerns pushed EA and DICE to focus on promotions and improvements aimed at keeping players engaged. Offering Battlefield 6 free for a week is clearly part of that effort.
The free trial comes at a critical moment. Arc Raiders has recently overtaken Battlefield 6 in both sales and concurrent player counts on Steam by nearly 40,000 players. At the same time, audience anticipation around Black Ops 7 remains high.
Despite this, EA seems confident that repeating the successful strategies used with Battlefield 2042—such as free periods and recurring discounts—can help boost Battlefield 6’s popularity again and draw in more players during this important phase.
