Dark Horse Comics has officially announced a brand-new limited series titled Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome, marking the first horror-themed story set in the iconic Cyberpunk universe.
The four-issue series will launch its debut issue on January 14, 2026, with the remaining three issues scheduled to release throughout the year.
Horror Comes to Night City in Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome
Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome brings together writer Doug Wagner and artist Tommaso Bennato, supported by colorist Rico Renzi and letterer Frank Cvetkovic, to craft a chilling new direction for Cyberpunk comics.
Unlike previous entries, which focused on crime, gangs, and corporate conspiracies, this storyline leans into elements of classic horror, offering a striking contrast to the usual high-tech, neon-soaked atmosphere of Night City.
Story Overview
The narrative follows a group of friends — including a netrunner, a fiery graffiti artist, an ambitious musician, and an autotechie — who embark on what seems like a simple urban exploration trip to a junkyard. What begins as an ordinary shoot quickly descends into terror, as the group discovers that the site hides dangers far beyond ghosts or urban legends, blending Cyberpunk’s futuristic edge with nightmare-inducing horror.
This series is confirmed as canon within the broader Cyberpunk universe, meaning its events tie directly into the core storyline alongside the video games and other Dark Horse comic adaptations published in partnership with CD Projekt Red.
Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome also joins the likes of Cyberpunk 2077: XOXO and other spinoffs, which have sought to expand the universe beyond the main game by exploring gang conflicts, underground drama, and new layers of Night City’s lore.
Release and Distribution
Pre-orders for the first issue of Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome officially open on September 26, 2025, available through local comic shops and the Dark Horse Digital Comics platform. Readers can also expect traditional comic distribution channels to carry the release.
The limited four-issue series is expected to conclude within 2026, after which a collected edition compiling the full story will likely be published, as is common with limited runs.
Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome is designed for longtime fans of the Cyberpunk setting as well as newcomers drawn to horror. With its fusion of sci-fi action and psychological nightmares, the series promises a unique visual and narrative experience that expands Night City into darker territory.
