After the successful launch of the Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, developer CD Projekt Red shifted most of its resources to developing The Witcher 4. Despite this transition, the studio has continued to support Cyberpunk 2077 with updates and quality-of-life improvements — including a sizable patch released in December 2024. A follow-up, Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3, was originally planned for release in June 2025 but has now been officially delayed.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3 Postponed Until Further Notice
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3 was initially scheduled for release on Thursday, June 26, 2025, and expectations were high for it to deliver improvements similar in scale to the previous patch. However, in a surprise announcement via Cyberpunk 2077’s official account on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter), CD Projekt Red confirmed that the update has been postponed indefinitely.
The developer shared the following statement:
Hey chooms,
We initially hoped to put Update 2.3 in your hands on June 26. However, we’ll need some more time to make sure we’re happy with it — we’re aiming for a scope similar to Update 2.2. We’ll update you further as soon as we can!
We appreciate your patience!
What to Expect in Update 2.3
Based on the official statement, it appears Update 2.3 will offer a content package comparable to Update 2.2, which was well-received by players. That previous patch introduced:
- 112 new character customization options
- Car color customization
- 10 new vehicles
- A new feature allowing Johnny Silverhand to appear during driving sequences
If the upcoming update follows in the same footsteps, fans can likely expect additional visual polish, feature expansions, and character enhancements that extend the replayability of Night City.
Platforms Supported for Update 2.3
Update 2.3 is confirmed to release only on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Notably, Nintendo Switch 2 has also been added to the list of supported platforms, reflecting CD Projekt Red’s broader push toward next-gen accessibility.
