This impressive achievement comes alongside the launch of a new chapter that introduces the iconic Jason Voorhees to the game, as well as a major anniversary update that has attracted massive numbers of players over the past few days.

On June 16, developer Behaviour Interactive released the game’s latest chapter, officially bringing Jason Voorhees, one of the most recognizable horror icons in cinematic history, into the roster of killers.
The new content received an overwhelmingly positive response from the community, which quickly translated into record-breaking player numbers. According to recent data, Dead by Daylight reached a peak of 125,820 concurrent players on Steam, the highest figure in the game’s history.
The title also surpassed its previous all-time peak by nearly 5,000 players, highlighting the impact of the new update and the excitement generated by Jason Voorhees’ long-awaited arrival.
Remarkably, Dead by Daylight continues to accomplish something rarely seen in the live-service gaming market: its popularity keeps growing over time rather than declining. Only a handful of multiplayer games manage to maintain this kind of long-term momentum.
Back in 2019, the game reached a peak of approximately 75,000 concurrent players. That figure climbed to around 105,000 in 2021, before rising again to nearly 120,000 players in 2025. Now, in 2026, the game has broken through the 125,000-player mark for the first time ever.
Many observers believe the primary reason behind this achievement is the arrival of Jason Voorhees, a character widely regarded as one of the most influential and recognizable figures in horror entertainment. Players had been requesting his inclusion for years, making the announcement a landmark moment for the community.
Another factor contributing to the surge in player numbers is the game’s current 60% discount on Steam, which has encouraged many new players to jump in and experience the title for the first time.
Interestingly, Behaviour Interactive recently confirmed that there are no plans to develop a sequel. Given that Dead by Daylight continues to break records and expand its player base year after year, that decision appears to make perfect sense.
