Playground Games has officially revealed Forza Horizon 6, confirming that the highly anticipated racing title will be set in Japan. The game is scheduled to launch in 2026 for PC and Xbox Series X, with a PlayStation 5 version also in development.
Forza Horizon 6 Teaser confirms Japan as the new setting
The announcement was made during Microsoft’s Tokyo Game Show livestream, which also featured several other Xbox-related reveals. The Forza Horizon 6 segment was brief, but it provided fans with enough information to spark major excitement.
The one-minute teaser trailer confirmed both the Japanese setting and the 2026 release window for PC and Xbox Series X. Xbox Wire later clarified that a PlayStation version is planned, though no specific launch date has been set for Sony’s platform.
While the trailer did not showcase gameplay, Playground Games confirmed that, like its predecessors, Forza Horizon 6 will remain an open-world racing experience rather than a strict simulation title.
Although the in-game map won’t be an exact replica of real-world Japan, the developers explained that it will merge multiple iconic locations across the country, including Tokyo and Mount Fuji.
Playground Games also teased that Forza Horizon 6 will fully embrace Japan’s rich and unique car culture, though the official vehicle roster has yet to be revealed.
A returning fan-favorite feature is the seasonal change system, carried over from the last two Horizon titles. This time, each season will come with its own distinct sound design rather than just visual adjustments, adding more depth and immersion to the gameplay.
According to Xbox, more details about the game will be shared in early 2026. For now, players can celebrate the official confirmation of one of the most beloved racing franchises returning — this time transporting the Horizon Festival to the streets, mountains, and culture of Japan.
