CI Games has officially announced the Lords of the Fallen 2 delay, just weeks after confirming a Fall 2026 release window. The decision was revealed in a new statement from the studio’s CEO, who explained that the development team requires additional time to refine the experience and deliver the highest possible level of quality at launch.
The game recently appeared during Summer Game Fest, where CI Games confirmed that the title would be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. However, it appears those launch plans have now changed.

According to the company’s official announcement, the Lords of the Fallen 2 delay pushes the release date from Fall 2026 to the first quarter of 2027.
The CEO explained that the decision followed extensive internal reviews conducted by a dedicated gameplay evaluation team, which includes experienced Soulslike players from the company’s creative and publishing divisions. Throughout development, the group identified several areas that could be improved to deliver a more polished and cohesive experience.
The statement noted that the additional development time will allow the team to further integrate, refine, and polish various gameplay systems, helping ensure the game launches with the highest possible level of quality and stability.
The impact of the Lords of the Fallen 2 delay extends beyond gameplay improvements. The move also gives CI Games an opportunity to avoid the highly competitive release window expected during September and October 2026.
A large number of publishers are currently planning major releases during that period as companies attempt to avoid launching too close to GTA 6, creating one of the most crowded release schedules in recent years.
Many industry analysts believe the extra development time could ultimately benefit the project. With player expectations for action RPGs continuing to rise, additional polish may help the game achieve a stronger reception when it finally launches. At the same time, avoiding an overcrowded release window could provide Lords of the Fallen 2 with greater visibility and a better chance of commercial success in 2027.
As a result, fans of the series will have to wait a few extra months before embarking on the next adventure, with hopes that the delay will lead to a more refined and rewarding final experience.
