On October 31, Techland unveiled a massive new update for Dying Light: The Beast, alongside a special Halloween-themed event for Dying Light 2: Stay Human. Both updates aim to immerse players in the dark, terrifying atmosphere of the season — whether through the nightmare-filled world of Castor Woods in the new installment, or the mysterious festivities taking over Villedor in Dying Light 2.

What’s New in Dying Light: The Beast

The latest update for Dying Light: The Beast introduces several gameplay enhancements and content additions, including improved enemy AI behavior. Human opponents now react more realistically in combat — for instance, enemies armed with melee weapons may surrender when you aim a firearm at them, adding a new layer of immersion and tension to encounters.

Players can also enjoy nine new weapon finishers, ranging from swords and daggers to heavy two-handed weapons, bringing more brutal and cinematic combat animations to the game.

The update coincides with Week 3 of the global community event “Call of the Beast,” which challenges players around the world to collectively achieve millions of precise shots on enemies. Those who meet the global targets will earn exclusive rewards, including the Marksman Car Skin and Bullseye Rifle.

In addition, the patch includes technical improvements to performance, stability, visuals, user interface, and audio, along with adjustments to the in-game economy system.

Halloween Event in Dying Light 2: Stay Human

Running from October 30 to November 20, the Halloween Showdown event in Dying Light 2: Stay Human introduces a festive weekly competition between two themed factions vying for exclusive rewards.

Players collect candy from defeated zombies and donate them to Baka at the Bazaar or Tower Raid Hub. Weekly goals unlock faction-specific weapons and cosmetics for participants.

Villedor transforms completely for the occasion, featuring returning Halloween-inspired zombie types such as Pumpkintiles, Witches, Scaregoons, Virals, and Biters. The Tower Raid mode has also been decorated with eerie visuals, new enemy designs, and rooftop battles.

Players can unlock new outfits like Cursed Pirate and CyberRaider, along with a fresh reward track featuring Toxic and UV weapons, as well as a dedicated leaderboard for seasonal competitions.

Community Maps and New Rewards

Fan-made maps are also part of the celebration, including Atomborne – Nightmare Hunter and The Sweetening Hour, both offering additional candy rewards for completing special missions starting November 13.

These community creations expand the event’s scope, ensuring players always have new challenges to explore during the Halloween season.

Special Halloween Bundles

To mark the event, Techland has launched two themed bundles packed with exclusive content.

  • The Volkan Bundle introduces experimental tech from a secret laboratory, featuring an anti-gravity rifle and other unique gadgets.
  • The CyberRaider Bundle brings a futuristic aesthetic that perfectly fits the game’s post-apocalyptic chaos.

Both bundles are now available through the in-game store.
