In a surprising update for fans of classic survival horror, a new report has revealed that Capcom is currently working on a Resident Evil 0 Remake, as part of its broader plan to revive the legendary franchise ahead of its 30th anniversary since the release of the original Resident Evil in 1996.

With Resident Evil Requiem set to launch in February next year, it appears Capcom is gearing up for a packed calendar filled with exciting releases for horror fans.

Resident Evil 0 Remake: New Story Direction and Cast

According to a report by MP1st, the project is currently known internally as “Project Chamber” and isn’t expected to launch before 2028. The report also corroborated previous leaks from reliable insider Dusk Golem, who claimed that Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake is in active development and scheduled for release in early 2027.

One of the most notable details from the report is that Billy Coen, the co-protagonist of the original 2002 game, will reportedly be portrayed by Jon McLaren, the actor best known for voicing Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (2021). His résumé recently listed “Project Chamber” as a current project, further fueling speculation about his involvement.

The report adds that Capcom plans to use an entirely new cast for the remake, continuing the studio’s trend of reimagining classic characters with fresh talent — similar to what it did in recent remakes like Resident Evil 2 and 4.

Moreover, the storyline will reportedly undergo significant changes compared to the 2002 original. The remake will include new narrative threads and expand the role of a previously minor character, giving them a much more prominent impact on the events. While Capcom has not disclosed further details, these adjustments are said to deepen the story and enhance the emotional and cinematic tone of the experience.

Although Capcom has yet to officially confirm the remake, the consistency of multiple leaks from independent sources makes the project’s existence increasingly credible.

Possible Reveal on October 29

Interestingly, Capcom is planning a special anniversary video celebrating the franchise on October 29, coinciding with the start of pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem. Many fans now believe that this event could feature the official reveal of both Resident Evil 0 Remake and Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake.

Until an official announcement is made, this report remains an exciting glimmer of hope for longtime fans who have been waiting to revisit the prequel story that set the stage for the entire Resident Evil universe — this time rebuilt with next-gen visuals and performance worthy of modern hardware.
