Capcom has reassured players during a recent investor Q&A that it does not expect Resident Evil Requiem to suffer from the same technical issues that previously affected Monster Hunter Wilds, particularly on PC.
The clarification came after direct questions about whether the upcoming title might run into similar performance challenges.
Capcom Says Potential Resident Evil Requiem Issues Are “Highly Unlikely”
According to Capcom, its confidence in the stability of Resident Evil Requiem comes down to major structural and gameplay differences between the two titles. The company noted that the internal systems, gameplay style, and network features of Requiem differ significantly from Monster Hunter Wilds, making a repeat of past problems very unlikely.
Capcom also emphasized that it is actively optimizing the game for a wide range of PC hardware, ensuring that as many players as possible can enjoy a smooth experience without technical barriers.
Monster Hunter Wilds previously faced widespread criticism due to its unstable PC performance. Some reports attributed these issues to the RE Engine, which powers many of Capcom’s recent titles.
However, Capcom clarified that the problems were specifically tied to the game’s massive open-world design—something that does not apply to Resident Evil Requiem.
Because Requiem does not feature an open-world structure, the engine is under far less strain, greatly reducing the likelihood of similar performance issues. Combined with ongoing optimization work, Capcom says it has strong confidence in the game’s stability at launch.
Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth mainline entry in the iconic survival horror franchise and is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026. The game will once again use the RE Engine despite past criticism linked to select titles.
