A new listing on the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) database has confirmed the Xbox Series X|S version of Silent Hill 2 Remake, signaling that the long-awaited release on Xbox is now imminent. The update comes roughly a year after the game’s timed exclusivity on PlayStation 5 and PC officially began.
Silent Hill 2 Remake’s Xbox Launch Appears Imminent
Developed by Bloober Team and published by Konami, Silent Hill 2 Remake first launched in October 2024 as a timed exclusive for PS5 and PC under a limited agreement between the two companies.
Now, nearly twelve months later, the latest ESRB update indicates that publishers are preparing to expand the game’s availability to Xbox platforms as well.
According to the database entry, the Xbox Series X|S edition of the game carries the same M (Mature 17+) rating as its previous versions, due to “intense violence, blood and gore, and strong psychological themes.”
Although Konami has yet to issue an official statement, ESRB listings typically precede official release announcements by only a few weeks, strongly suggesting that the reveal is just around the corner.
What to Expect from the Xbox Release
If confirmed, Xbox Series X|S players will finally experience one of the most highly anticipated psychological horror games in recent years.
The remake faithfully reimagines the 2001 classic, bringing it to life with modern visuals, cinematic presentation, and atmospheric storytelling designed to take advantage of current-generation hardware.
Expanding to Xbox would mark a significant milestone for the franchise, following the strong critical and commercial performance of the PS5 version — praised for its haunting art direction and emotional depth, despite some technical performance critiques.
Official Announcement Could Arrive Soon
As of now, no release date has been announced for the Xbox version of Silent Hill 2 Remake, but all signs point toward an official reveal in the coming weeks. With the 2025 holiday season fast approaching, that timeframe would be ideal for a major launch.
The listing essentially confirms that the exclusivity period has expired, opening the door for Xbox players to step once again into the fog-covered streets of Silent Hill — this time, in a fully remade experience.
