A trusted insider has revealed that the announcement of Starfield’s release on PS5 will not happen this year. Instead, it’s now expected sometime in 2026, disappointing many PlayStation fans who have been eagerly waiting for Bethesda’s space epic to arrive on their platform.
Starfield on PS5: Release Plans May Slip Into Next Year
Ever since Starfield launched exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC, rumors have persisted about a PlayStation 5 port. The idea of the game expanding beyond Xbox’s ecosystem has been a hot topic among fans, especially after several reports suggested a 2026 launch window.
Recently, similar discussions emerged around a potential Switch 2 version, though it seems that no official announcement for either platform will happen before the end of this year.
“Believe the announcement will be in 2026 unless plans change,” tweeted insider @NateTheHate2 on October 20, 2025.
When asked on X (formerly Twitter) about any updates on the PS5 version, Nate responded with that statement, reinforcing his earlier claims that a PlayStation release is real but that the announcement timeline has shifted.
According to previous leaks, Bethesda had originally planned to unveil the port during 2025. However, based on new internal scheduling changes, fans will likely have to wait until next year to hear anything official.
Starfield PS5 Release Window and Expansion Plans
A separate report published earlier this year indicated that Starfield, along with its upcoming expansion, is now slated for a Spring 2026 release on PS5. This supports the idea that the delay is purely logistical rather than a cancellation of the project.
Notably, Xbox head Phil Spencer has previously hinted that Starfield could indeed reach PlayStation in the future. In a past interview, he stated that there’s no reason for them to block any game from reaching platforms where there’s a large audience — as long as it makes commercial sense for them.
