After months of teasers and speculation, Valve has finally revealed full details about the new Steam Machine, including official pricing, available storage options, and the bonuses buyers will receive when the highly anticipated device launches.
Previous rumors surrounding the Steam Machine price suggested that the system would be significantly more expensive than traditional gaming consoles. Valve’s official announcement has now confirmed those expectations, with the entry-level model priced above $1,000, making it one of the most expensive gaming-focused devices on the market.
Steam Machine Price Starts at $1,049
In a new official post, Valve showcased all available Steam Machine configurations, offering different storage capacities and optional bundles that include the Steam Controller.
The official pricing is as follows:
- Steam Machine 512GB – $1,049
- Steam Machine 512GB + Steam Controller – $1,128
- Steam Machine 2TB – $1,349
- Steam Machine 2TB + Steam Controller – $1,428
Valve also confirmed that both 2TB editions will include exclusive customization options, featuring two additional front panels for the device. One comes with a red fabric-inspired finish, while the other offers a premium walnut wood design, giving users more ways to personalize their system.
The pricing strategy reflects Valve’s intention to position the Steam Machine closer to a high-end gaming PC than a traditional console, thanks to its powerful hardware specifications and large storage capacities designed for players with extensive Steam libraries.
Alongside the pricing announcement, Valve also detailed how customers can secure a launch unit during the first wave of availability.
Players interested in purchasing a Steam Machine must register for their preferred model before June 25. Once registration closes, Valve will conduct a single randomized selection process to determine reservation order and waiting-list placement.
After the selection is completed, users will receive one of two emails. The first will confirm a reservation slot and guarantee shipment as soon as units become available. The second will notify customers that they have been placed on a waiting list until additional stock arrives.
Valve also confirmed that the first Steam Machine shipments will begin on June 29, meaning buyers will not have to wait long after the reservation process concludes.
