Bandai Namco has officially released its latest title, Once Upon A Katamari, bringing the beloved Katamari Damacy series back to life after more than a decade. The new game promises a fresh, charming, and time-bending experience that will capture both new players and long-time fans alike.
Fourteen Years Later, the King of All Cosmos Returns
It’s been 14 years since the last Katamari release, but the King of All Cosmos and the Prince are back in Once Upon A Katamari, now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
Developed by RENGAME and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, the game once again tasks players with helping the Prince restore the stars to the sky — after the King accidentally destroys Earth in one of his cosmic blunders.
This time, players will roll their Katamari, the ever-growing ball that collects everything it touches, through time itself — gathering objects from different eras to rebuild the star-filled heavens.

In Once Upon A Katamari, players will experience the series like never before — traveling through time to iconic periods such as the Jurassic era, the Ice Age, and historical Japan, among others. The game introduces an all-new competitive mode, alongside returning fan-favorite features.
The signature Katamari soundtrack makes a comeback with new upbeat tracks, while enhanced customization options and new power-ups — like the magnet ability that attracts nearby objects — add fresh layers of strategy and fun.
Players can choose to play as the Prince or one of 68 available cousins, each customizable in color and appearance. These personalized characters shine especially in the new KatamariBall mode, a four-player competitive challenge where participants race against the clock to build the largest Katamari possible and convert its size into points.
KatamariBall supports both online multiplayer and offline AI matches, ensuring players can enjoy chaotic rolling sessions anytime, anywhere.
